Something triggered me today to thorougly inspect
If it was a good thing or otherwise to "expect"
When i look back and retrospect
I found, it revolved around two aspects
One that results out of greed
The other as the fruit of your sown seed
On top of the world you feel, if they are met
If not, all that you get to do is to fret
Makes you feel that "they " are the prime suspects
And pushes you to swear "never to expect"
When things happen and you least expect
Blessings in disguise, they are, in a way;
When they don't,
Who cares? you never expected them anyway...
Wonder which is sweeter
If its the "expectations met" or "unexpected success"
I atleast know what is bitterer
"Unmet expectations" that leads to pain and distress
A single day to explore all its prospects
Ain't it too much to expect?!?
"When you hope for the best, better be prepared for the worst!!!"
A few days ago i was g-talking with a close friend of mine and it all started there. I asked her how her day was and in response to that, she narrated me quite a funny and hilarious story that took place that morning on her way to office. It left me laughing the entire day... Here it goes...
Prologue:
Every morning, my friend and her hubby leave to office together and they hit the hubby's office first, where my friend gets down and takes a rick to hers from there.
The events on that particular day:
Her observations in the rick:
(I must say she's pretty good at face reading, for, she told me she'd do that to those autowala's before getting into any of the ricks. If one has scary looks, she wouldn't get in. But on that day, she forgot to carry out that routine. )
Her reactions:
Her descriptions as told to me:
Her conclusion:
The ultimate truth:
Closing note:
PS: The title of this post was forced upon me by the victim of this little incident!!! The english translation would be - " An encounter with a lunatic - mor morning".. Oops i cant help it!! ;)
For All those who are in love,
Wishing you a very happy and memorable Valentine's day
For All those who are "Single and ready to mingle",;)
Good luck and yes, first of all happy independence day :P
And finally, for those already married,
hmmm... hmmm.. hmmm... hmmm...

Better luck next time :D
Her golden skin shone and the spots were crystal clear
Deep in her sparkling eyes
The glitter of rays enticed
Lost in the woods she seemed
Looking out for help, here and there she restlessly leaped
She was such a beauty, which one would have only dreamt
The fear and innocence was very much evident
Strolling across a pond in twilight
Looked as though the celestial torch had put her in limelight
Anticipating that she'd run into someone she knew
Walked into a thick jungle about which she had no clue
Suddenly facing her was the deadly beast
His message was clear - "Here is my feast"
With a glossy makeover, he beckoned her into his den
In an hours time she was all bones and skin
Felt that she was chastised
For her innocence and sanctity that naturally prevailed
Reminds me of a cynical adage
The innocents are the ones first to be gauged
The promise of tomorrow perish
Bitterness of the past continue to ravish
PS: The National Geagraphic showed it really well...
It was summer holidays again
I was rejoicing after exams that were such a pain
For killing time, i majestically found "n" ways
When friends joined, we were murdering it in the best possible ways
Early sleeps and late wake ups were the routine then on
Not even titling my face in the mornings when my mom splashed water upon
One night i was awoken out of sleep due to a continued doorbell press
Cursing badly, i opened the door to find the damsel in distress
It was Anjali, my friend who came seeking for a shelter
Her parents were out of station and urged her to stay at my place better
Invited her in with a warm hug
The next 1 hr were full of laughters as if we had had a peg
We were set to sleep on 2 couches
That were both arranged in L-shaped right angles
I slept on the one opposite which was a television
Anjali settled on the one behind mine closed her eyes uttering a prayer of devotion
I again woke up unable to bear the cacophony
When i opened my eyes i found the TV playing the station Sony
It was that bewitching smile of Anjali that took me by surprise
When asked if she wasn't sleeping, she grinned telling she was awaiting her prize
I asked her to reduce the volume which she harshly refused
Asked her to hand over the remote to do it myself, my tone very confused
She did so stretching her arms to reach me with the remote along
When i turned back, i realised that the stretch was so unusually long
Her hand moved past me like an extension tape
I sat on my couch upright my mouth wide open with a gape
I turned to look at her, i knew how ambidextrous she was
In one hand she operated the remote with the other she turned the knife across
I stood up to run away from her with silent whine
She held my throat with a third hand, that sent a chill up my spine
She started to spray something on my face that made it swell
I tightly closed my eyes which were drooling into a bottomless well
Being too scared and frightened i finally opened my eyes
It was my mom beside me wiping my forehead with a cloth as cold as ice
Though i realised it was a "scary dream" i had,
I still hadn't uttered a word, being afraid of the witch's fourth hand ;)
Next day i had a seminar presentaion to deliver
Had to skip the class due to very high fever
The third day i went to the college
The first person i met was Mrs Anjali the witch ;)
I narrated the whole episode over which her laughter piled
But my eyes could only see that the witch again smiled
PS: Till this day i get a lil scared at her after that nightmare ;) But to be honest she's a very sweet lady i have ever met :)
It was not until recently i came to believing that, not only the youngsters are the ones who are addicted to "mobiles" but our elders too!!!
It was my mom's birthday last november on which occassion i decided to present her a cell phone. I didn't want to reveal it to her until the last minute because whenever i talked about she owning a mobile, she always argued against it and claimed it would serve no purpose to her. She in turn used to convince me saying "the landline is always ther" and in the worst case, she would carry either mine or my father's cell. Being an employee in BSNL, she has always felt she had absolutely no need for a "fancy" cell phone and the "BSNL Landline" was something she could entirely rely upon!!!
When she actually saw the present on her birthday she accepted it, though a kind of "what was the need for this???" look was evident in her face. :) Now that i had already bought it and it was a gift from her beloved daughter, she accepted it and started asking about the features it supported. It was a motorola set (MotoYuva) and i told her enthusiastically that she could use it anywhere and anytime from now on. She did not find it very amusing and she insisted on knowing the exact features it supported. I had used a spice sim with lifetime validity for the new cell. I started explaining what connection i had used and when she heard "spice" she instantly said, "BSNL is the best than any other connection. It has nice offers. The latest one "sumo power pack" is the best of all.. In fact you also have to start using it ... blah blah blah.. " (modest employee of BSNL you see ;) ) I had to finally convince her telling, she could change the connection anytime later and only then she seemed to relax :) Later i taught her as to how she could use it for making and taking calls. (She was only used to my and my father's mobile which were SE and nokia resp and Motorola was way too different for her). In a few hours time, all her friends, sisters, nephews, nieces and others knew she had a cell phone :)
After a week or so, i was in the office breaking my head over some C code when suddenly a series of messages arrived to my inbox of my mobile. I didn't care to look at them thinking it was either some useless messages from spice about even more useless offers it had or some forwards from my friends wishing GM or GA or GE or GN :P. I usually don't reply to them because i'd have already wished them early in the morning during my journey of about 2 hrs in the bus. It was time for lunch and i just flipped my phone and to my surprise there were 2 messages from an unknown number sandwitched between those fwds and notification messages. I scrolled down to those messages and opened them. The first message read "Divvu.kutti.i.love.u." and the 2nd message read "hd.yr.lch.chpt.ela.undi". I thought it was someone playing a prank on me but something told me it wasn't so. When i dug deep i realised the message was not typed properly and it looked as though it was sent by someone who hardly knew messaging. And the 2nd message made absolutely no sense. When i was about to delete those messages , another one beeped and it was from the same number again. And it read "gdaftn.lallu". I immediately called up to know who was faking my mom's name and after i got connected i heard my mom's voice. For a moment i thought i had called up the wrong number (which i usually do. Send messages to wrong recipients , call up wrong numbers etc). I tld her i had called her by mistake and hung up without even bothering to listen to what she was saying. The 2nd time i made sure i was calling the "anonymous" number and this time it was again my mom.
Well can you beat this??? My Mom had actually bought a BSNL sim, asked me to have the spice sim as a "back up" :) she sounded sooo happy just like how a child reacts when given a new toy!!! She had even activated those "best plans" she claimed that BSNL offered and to do that, she had to sms some code words to some number. Now this is was the investigation portion of sending messages ;) That plan had 200 messages free for a month. So she had made this discovery of sending sms that she was getting for "free" and managed to compile a couple of messages for me taking help of her colleagues. She narrated me the entire story when i had called her and she suddenly remarked - "Hey cut the call now. Now that the smses are free, i will message you. Let us chat for a while!!!" :) I was totally taken aback and couldn't resist a smile. How innocently modestly that was told. Before i could ask her what the 2nd message meant, the line went dead. Had i deleted those messages thinking they were prank ones, i would have regretted that badly since i always stored everyone's 1st message in my cell !!! Some sort of sentiment which i never understood but when i look back and read them i have so many memories to recall. :)
I came home that evening, took out my mom's cell and opened the inbox and there was a long list of messages!!! But the inbox displayed numbers instead of names. Well, the fact was my mom didn't know that numbers could be stored with names attached to them :) I wondered how she still managed to with so many people. The catch thing here was that my mom has this impeccable talent of remembering the phone numbers by heart!!! I then came to know how she would have messaged. I later taught her how to "store numbers" in the cell. She was so interested in taking the "mobile lessons" and sometimes she even scribbled a few inportant points on a sheet of paper. ;) Post lessons, to check how my student fared, i had a glimpse at the contact list. There were just 5 of them. I thought my mom had found it difficult to add all the numbers as this was the first time, i told her not to worry and eventually she'd learn them. Well, any idea what she said??? Well, she simply said, "I don't have to store all the numbers in here. God has gifted me with sharp memory and i rely upon it completely!!! I only stored those complicated US numbers along with few non sense mobile numbers (meaning that she found it hard to remember them as she had no way to relate them to anything!!!) ". That was like a bouncer to me!!!
The next day was a saturday. After having got super cool badgerings from my thaatha(well, some of you may know who i am talkin about) in the coll, i was solving this fav puzzle"sudoku" that came as one of the games in my mom's cell. It was almost 1.5hrs that i had been playing when my mom came in and told, "Why do you eye my cell when you have yours!!!!" I told her about this game which i liked and she accused me of not telling her that "one could play games in the mobile". Well, you can guess what happened next. She spent the next 5 hrs in gaming sacrificing her favourite serials for its sake!!!!! How sportive of her!!! :P
The next week on a wednesday, when i came home after work, there was loud music being played. Hats off to motorola. The sound system simply rocks. The radio utility was something which i had shown her on the very 1st day. I was happy to see her listening to music and cooking simultaneously!!! But there was something starnge in what was being played. The same song kept repeating. I wondered how a radio station kept playing the same song time and again. I smelled something was wrong and asked my mom what she had done. She was not in the radio mode but MP3. I was again surprised as to how she could download songs to her mobile though there was no bluetooth or IR. The only way to load songs was through USB which i was sure i never did. Hmmm, any guesses this time??? Well, she had "recorded" this song from FM station!!!!!!!!!! And there was just one song and no wonder it kept repeating.
The next couple of weeks i trained her on how to use dictionary mode, different languages etc etc etc. And whatever i taught she put them into use. For instance, she and her best friend message each other only in "telugu". :) She even messages most of MY friends and chat with them too!!! When my friends send her forwards like those inspirational quotes, she makes sure she will forward it to me. And whenever she sends out forwards, she promptly adds a line in the beginning telling from whom she had originally got that message!!! So damn innocent and sincere!!! There is this close friend of mine who gets soooo irritated at messaging that he keeps telling that if i am so damn stingy to call, he wouldn't mind calling back, but never bother him with messages. And guess what, my mom messages him and he's forced to message back!!! Haha ... How ironic and what a pity !!! I just enjoy them lots!!! The best was, once when my mom messaged me asking how to send messages on a "reliance mobile". I said i was busy and tell her later parallelly hoping she had not changed the cell phone this time!!! I was pretty sure she did not, for, she wud definitely not changed from BSNL!!! :D Later she messaged my friend and asked him this. Ha ha ha ha i can imagine how enraged he'd have been. He managed to keep his cool and answer my mom that he was also "busy" in a tone as polite as possible!!! She even asked me to buy her a purse that had this compartment for holding mobiles!!!
Well, i was just so amused seeing how a layman learns to use cellphones!!! I wont be surprised if she has made a timetable for messaging playing etc etc in her routine. And today i finally asked her if she still had regrets that i had wasted my money on a cell phone. Her answer was "no" and accepted that having a mobile was a good idea but the only thing was - "The motorola was not really good. It had very less features. She'd have preferred something which atleast had a camera!!!" Any comments????
Epilogue: I just got a message from an unknown number yesterday and i discovered the number was my father's................................
'It' wasn't a flying saucer,
'It' wasn't a witchcraft;
Niether was 'it' a spell cast by a sorcerer
Nor was 'it' dream come true after making a wish looking at a shooting star;
This was something which anyone ever expected
And even if they did, it only left them disappointed...
It was a "birthday treat" from a friend
Escaping from them was always his trend
Forgot to wish me on my birthday
Out of guilt, treated me and my friend on my behalf today!!!
I still feel i am day dreaming
Only convinced coz my other friend pinched me hard to believing :P
PS: I wish you keep forgetting my birthday every year ;)
What a start it has been
Wish in the last year, i had, 2009 forseen
The very first week filled with lots of confusions and mishaps
Life was much better last year, perhaps
Forced to take things as it comes
Trying very hard not to succumb
Deepest desire is to set things proper
Hope to see no room for remorse and that things will soon be better
Feels Guilty for being negative
Cannot help it when life mocks at you and you not ready to believe
May be the brighter side is yet to come for the gloomy beginning
For, i strongly believe that every dark cloud has a silver lining

It was a rainy day when the Kumars had set off on a tour to western ghats. The sweet family consisted of 7 people - Mr and Mrs Kumar, their two sons - Ajay who was 15 yrs old, Vijay around 12 yrs old, a cute little daughter tinku, who was in 2nd std and Mr Kumar's aged parents . The 7 of them were packed in a Qualis and started off. The journey was not very eventful or adventurous but normal. The only people who seemed to enjoy the travel were the aged parents of Mr.Kumar as this was the only time they had got to spend time with their grandchildren for they lived in a shimoga and the others in bangalore. The little girl was specially of interest as she entertained the grannys telling them cute lovely stories, singing songs and talked naughtily. And it was only her who seriously gave ears to the mythological stories that her grandparents narrated which others found it quite old for their age. The two guys were most of the time engrossed in cliquing pictures of the scenic beauty that the Ghats offered. Mrs Kumar occasionally conversed with others while most of the time, she was glued to magazines. Mr. Kumar slept peacefully amidst these people and it was "peacefull" coz it was after many years he was with his family touring, otherwise it was always office stuff that constantly kept him occupied.
Most of the first day was spent travelling when finally they reached the guesthouse around 7pm where they planned to settle that night. The next day they visited Horanadu, Shringeri and other temples, Agumbe and other tourist spots and it was a couple of hours before getting dark.
The kids were keenly interested to visit the beach as they had not seen one till then. In fact the children had agreed to come only after their father promised them that he'd take them to a beach. Mr.Kumar was skeptical if they really could enjoy it due to high tides in that season. Nevertheless, being a faithful father, he didn't want to disappoint the kids and kept up his promise.
As he anticipated, the scene was quite horrific as the sea was fierce with high tides and the roaring noise scared the kids. The beach was almost deserted except for a few fishermen here and there. The grandparents, and Mrs.Kumar preferred staying in the car while others went to the beach. The eldest was a bravo and ran towards the sea. He attempted getting his feet wet though the others insisted against it. Ajay asked his brother and sister to join which they did after a slight hesitation. Mrs.Kumar kept warning not to go far from the shore. The fact was that the shore was very narrow and moving towards the sea a few yards was actually getting them deep into the water. Ajay kept "playing" in the mighty sea but he never realised he was actually responding to the inviting waves into the sea. To others, he looked a few yards away, safe. The other two only let their feet wet and din't dare to move further. Mr.Kumar meanwhile took a stroll on the beach now and then halting to see if the kids were safe.
It had started getting dark and Mr.Kumar realised it was time to start their journey back home and gave a pack up call and turned towards where Ajay and others were playing. To his dismay, there was "nobody" ther. He was the "only" creature on the beach!!! He was shaken to death for a split second and started breathing hard. On top of his voice, he started shouting out the kids' names. When he got no response he felt stupified momentarily and it took him several minutes to regain conscious. He searched for them in every possible corner on the beach, behind the bushes, near the rocks but in vain. He lost his composure and stood gaping at the deserted beach and he felt as though the sea had calmed down suddenly and looked all gay after preying the victims. Tears began to fill his eyes and he silently walked towards where the car was parked in all hopes of finding them there. Maybe it was just a joke, maybe it was yet another prank of those kids, or just hoped they had survived the death that was so close.
When he reached the car, his "hopes" turned sour. There were no kids there. Mrs Kumar was relieved to see him back and insisted that he and others get into the car so that they started their return journey soon. When he was about to break the news of "missing kids", he saw something flashy and glowing a few yards down the road. He walked towards it, and as he did so, he got a clearer view of the road as it was pitch dark now. As he neared it, he could hear the sound of a water stream. The other side of the road was the "not so thick" forest and so he was pushed towards the sound he heard but he saw no lights now. He thought it was just his imagination and turned back to return when suddenly the place was illuminated with torch and candle lights and there were the 3 kids who started to sing the "birthday song". Mr.Kumar strongly felt he was dreaming and he wanted to end it. But it was happening and he now rememered it was his "birthday" and wondered how unpleasant a surprise can be!!! He was very happy to see the kids again and hugged them kissed them and told them never to play such a prank ever again on him. The others joined them and they all winked at each other to have made Mr.Kumar the birthday bakra!!! They went back to where the car was parked and cut the cake and Mr.Kumar felt this excitement would last forever.
They started back to bangalore and everyone were speaking together about this plan and how hard they had worked to make it successful. As the car was crossing a hairpin bend, a truck from the opposite side hit the car and a loud "thud". That was the last thing that Mr.Kumar's family heard. There was a slight jerk and the car started moving backward off the road, down the hills, freely suspended in air for a few feet and another "thud" of the car resting on uneven land a few 100 meters down!!!
The grandparents were dead on the spot. Ajay the bravo fights hard for breath and gives up, Mrs.Kumar dies of a bad head injury, tinku and vijay bleed badly and are dead crushed in the car and Mr.Kumar left with injuries in a soporific state. Chasms of grief engulfed him and the birthday song kept ringing in his ears. Being the only survivor amongst them, Mr.Kumar goes into a state of trauma and recovers only after 6-8 months of rigorous/timely treatment.
What a tragedy it was!!! The "ACT OF DYING" come true!!! Its one of the true stories i have heard. Just imagine the pain that Mr.Kumar would have gone through. Dear friends, can you imagine anything worse happening than such an incident? Can there be anythin at all that leaves you with so much pain and a churn in your stomach? I bet anyone wouldn't want this to happen even to their deadliest foes. Sometimes i wonder how can God be sooo cruel. Taking off so many lives in matter of few minutes!!! May be this is HIS way of cost cutting through recession!!!
Kavitha, a close buddy of Anitha
Both had first met in a class of BhagvadGeetha
Together they went to the same school
In their twelve years of school they were the sort "never to bhool"
Some adored their friendship though some envied
Whatever it is, they never missed out the lead
Together were they like sisters
Promised each other never to part, when they met their misters
It was time that they stepped into college
Most awaited period for people in their teenage
Kavitha joined a college X while Anitha the college Y
It was their parents choice and both wondered "why"
Different colleges did not matter as they often met up for "combined studies"
Both knew, it was simply a claim, and the real reason was to make gossips ;)
Days passed like a whirlwind, soon it was the 2nd year of PUC
High time to get serious and stop being in the world of fantasy
Both worked hard to the core
Managed to get a decent score
Anitha chose "Engineering" while Kavitha "Pure Sciences"
Both graduated successfully in the respective courses
Anitha had a job offer in an IT firm and started off a career
While Kavitha pursued her Masters, went onto become a pioneer
There was never a day that they did not speak
The smses, the phone calls always used to be at peaks
Kavitha ,more matured sort, was always there like a shoulder to lean on
She was a "darling" in its truest sense that Anitha had ever known
Very down to earth and "Be a roman in rome" sort of a girl was kavitha
These very qualities were the ones that influenced Anitha
Their lives went on smooth; Love, fun, care for which there was always room
Until one day when Kavitha had a proposal for a groom
Reluctant she was in the beginning
For, an MS seat in US was what she was yearning
Though rejected this one, due to pressure in the family more proposals flew in
Nothing there was that she could do, being disgusted, she finally gave in
The guy was "Anirudh", whom she chose
Soon they were engaged and the marriage was close
They started going out on weekends
Anitha teased her if she had forgotten her friends
One such day, Anitha's cell beeped, it was an SMS from Kavitha which read "where are you dear Ani"
She was v happy to see that msg, more so coz of her pet name and replied instantly, "At home honey"
In few seconds there was another sms from her saying "Sorry that was for Anirudh"
Anitha for the first time felt a pang of jealousy unable to fathom the truth.
There on, calls from kavitha began to cease and messages seldom beeped
With a dramatic change in her behavior, anitha silently weeped
Finally it was the D day of kavitha's marriage
Anita with mixed feelings, tried looking normal with her feelings camouflaged
Off she went to her in-law's house
Anitha wept so much that she required a paracetemol dose
Phone calls and smses almost zeroed, things changed drastically then on
Very difficult it was to keep the momentum going on
Forgetting friends was what Anitha thought was the post marriage trend
Unlike others, Kavitha proved otherwise, being a truly responsible friend
It was a weekday when Kavitha finally called
Talked for a really long time, non-stop of her family, responsibilities, which left Anitha appalled
Some of us would have encountered Anitha Kavitha in our real lives
Which makes me, my thoughts revive
Sometimes I wonder "why it happens only with gals"
While guys usually are in touch with many of their pals
I wonder, how a stranger can become so important in a person's life
Whether it is self imposed or if it is something that happens naturally in everyone's life
Is it truly the responsibilities , or is it the the insecurities and the fear of in laws
That goes into the girl's book of marriage clause
For all that we may not know, may be it is that immense love of a husband,
That blindfolds the gal even to notice the best of her friends!!!
Today i was taking a stroll in the park road limping slowly due to a sprain and something very beautiful caught my eye. It looked like someone was staring at me at first and that stare slowly turned into a smile. It was the moon !!! I simply stood there with my eyes transfixed over the scene. The two stars (guess they were the planets the bigger one possibly jupiter, as they were unusually bright) just above the moon appeared as its eyes as though wishing me a pleasant evening. I very lucky to witness the moon smile at me and i simply smiled back :) Few minutes after the clouds shadowed the smaller star/planet and this looked as though the moon was winking at me :) Had no words to describe how beautiful it was. Tried taking a snap in my cell phone. This was the best i could capture. Later the moon said "goodbye" went to sleep :(Hey sky you looked so bright;
The very sight made me delight;
Ready to run several miles
For your breathtaking smile
Felt like reaching you standing on the edifice
For, i know, you were the God in disguise!!!
In my opinion, every person is unique. It is more important to create his/her own identity rather than trying to imitate or rather "be like someone else". The desire to be like some else should be such that it only fine tunes your character and not transform it completely. Being an ingenuistic person is the need of the hour. Respect yourself for what you are and discover yourself to know more about what you can do to make a difference.
I've known many people especially those in love say things like "I can do anything for my loved ones!!!" But how much do they mean that. Why in the first place do they want to do that? Even though they do it, I am sure it won’t leave them satisfied unless it is an urge within them to do that “anything”. For instance, a person claims to have quit smoking/drinking on insistence of his partner. But for some reason if they were to depart, I bet this guy can beat any chain smoker in the town or become a Devdas Jr. It’s not only cheating your partner but also yourself. Living for someone else's sake is only transient and is of insignificant consequence.
Do things which ‘you’ feel is right. Be true to yourself and your conscious and definitely nothing can go wrong. Avoid making false promises, faking yourself to impress someone, being dramatic, manipulative etc. There are also instances where people pull others down to push themselves up. Remember life is a boomerang. You get back what you give. Never ever blame others for whatever happens. You are solely responsible for all your deeds. Don’t have a “tit-for-tat” attitude. At the end of the day, you must be justifiable and answerable to whatever you do. Though I had some really tough times in the past, I am happy to say that I have no guilt and regret for whatever that life has given me so far.
Always carry an attitude and not arrogance. There’s a very thin, hair-line difference I would say, between the two. Make sure you fall in the 1st category. Try being honest, sincere and transparent. When you say something, mean it. Try to be consistent in your behavior and that is what makes one reliable, trustworthy and dependable. When something goes wrong from your side intentionally or unintentionally, be ready to apologize/confess to whoever it is. Be grateful to people who have been there for you when you needed them most and make sure you will be there for them too. Co-operate but never compromise. Again, there is a very subtle difference between them. Being patient really helps (which I lack most) but ironically the very thought it makes me impatient :( It’s some of those minor things that make a major difference in life.
I just hate to hear people telling that “Life is a compromise”. No it is not. It only tells you are lazy or not very keen on getting what you want. Or sometimes it simply means that you don’t know what you want. Having said this, it is also true that one must be reasonable enough in his/her expectations.
Well, I do agree that this topic is debatable. However I just put out some of my views and opinions that I strongly believe in and have worked for me. Sounds like as though I am in a Gandhi-an Era, but let me tell you, it surely works. :)
I take this opportunity to thank all those precious people who have made a difference in my life.

Was seated in a gigantic room for the induction programme with the a bunch of friends
The 3rd day was quite a day for rest
Managed somehow to clear the test, "lucky me" i had thought,
The training was at the Infy campus , mysore
The pace of training grew faster day by day
How i missed my close ones being away from home
Unlike my other friends, i had a bonus plus
Nearing to the end was the training
It was "bangalore" for me, which i expected never
Stepping into the Infy campus at bangalore
The mystifying structures there would make us awe
Some of my friends were immediately on projects and some of us were on "bench"
It was a sharp learning curve in the beginning
I was fortunate to have been the 2006 enrollee
Marking its celebration was the live-in concert of the music diva, Sonu Nigam
Infy is also one of the biggest techie matrimonial center
Tried finding one for myself taking so much pain ;)
There were numerous ways to "utilize" time ;) - a stroll on the long hall , or go for a ball
Sometimes it was DVDs and sometimes CCDs around the clock
BBs discussed almost all topics under, on and above the earth,
Now and then catching the glimpses of famous personalities including Mr & Mrs Moorthy
How can i forget the hang outs - times that were so fun filled and Gala
Evening 5 was the time to rush to the bus stand in a bicycle
June July was the time for making ourselves free
To get a feeling of leading the life king size, oops "queen size" :)
Wish i was still with you dear
May your glory continue for decades...
All of us are normally inclined to music, be in any of its forms. Music is something more than what we generally perceive - the ones which are formed out of musical instrumets, the lyrics and the song. Well friends, actually, music exists quite naturally. The great musicians of the past describe it as something that is pleasant to hear, that which can avert your mind between the 2 extremes of your thoughts. The best example for this is, when you wake up in the morning, the chirping of birds, the rustle of leaves, the hither-tither of the softly blowing wind, breeze rather, are all natural forms music melody.
Though the beauty of music is evident in the above said forms, the humans, with their creativity add more life and meaning to it. It is so dominant now that people tend to think that music is something that humans create, the general perception i was talking about earlier. And the backbone to this new era of music are the musical instruments.
One such instrument is the "Guitar". I would say this instrument is something really special, for, even when a layman strikes its strings, it gives out such a melodious tone. This is not the same with other instruments. For instance, if you try a flute for the first time, you may not even be succesful to blow it in the right area. And if at all you succeed, i am sure you'd hear a sound something like a whistle of a cooker in the kitchen. :) Yet another king of instruments is the violin. Though you will be successful in getting a sound out of it when you play it for the first time, i am sure your neighbours will have a problem :) I can even imagine what they would say. It would be this: "Pakkad manevru esht pitil haakthare ri. Keli keli kivi thoothagogatte" Well, all that i am trying to tell here is that, Guitar is something anyone can easily try their hands on without you/others getting bugged or making it mu'sick' :) The sound of it only inspires you to play more.
Well, now it sounds simple and easy isn't it? But there is more to that. Any instrument that you are keen on learning requires practice. Let me make the word "practice" a little heavy. You really need lots and lots and lots of "Practice". A few days ago, i was going through a blog in which i found this video of someone playing guitar. May be it was the author herself and it was very obvious that she was just a starter. She had played this track from backstreet boys - "As g as you love me". The first feeling i had about this lady was that she was very brave. For, the music was so badly played that atleast i wouldn't dare to upload it on a public website like YouTube. It just sounded like "tn tn tn tnt tn". On keen observation only wil one come to know that the notes of some song is being played. I am not trying to humiliate or belittle that person but i just want to convey that getting the notes right isn't music at all. May be it was just that she was very excited to have got the notes right and the tune some what matched the actual song. But let me tell you, there is a lot of difference in just getting the notes right and deriving the melody out of the tone. Its like a music without life. With the life comes the melody. I know it is not very easy as it is told. The mantra behind this is again - "Practice practice and practice".
And now there is again more to it just than pratice. Its the ability to listen and grasp the tunes. For instance, the "sa" in sargam exists in 2 octaves considering Indian music. Though both octaves produce the same note, the melody or the bhaav it creates are like two opposite poles. Hence when you try playing songs, its not only necessary tht you get the notes right and practice hard, one must eventually learn the art of composition. Once you reach this stage, you don't have to google for notes of different songs.
And the last ingredient to playing musical instruments is to sing along when you play. When my guitar master told me about this i used to think, "I chose an instrument over vocal because my voice was bad, and this guy asks me to sing". Most of you out there may have similar thoughts. But that isn't true. I discovered that it is only when you sing that you get hold of the rhythm. How much ever a bad singer one is, if you really want to get the melody of the music from an instrument, it is always better to sing along. Try it once and you will know. Even humming will work great. This gives the "thaala" right for the tone. For any music - "raaga thaala and bhaavam" are the basic essentials. Raaga is achived through pratice, Bhaavam by listening well and thaala by sing along or the usual way of syncing by patting the feet or fingers.
Hmmm quite a huge gyaan on music. :P To tell you the truth, i am also a layman when it comes to music. Most of these are my observations and some inputs from my guitar sir. And it has worked to some extent in my case. Even i am tempted to actually upload a song that i recorded after practising it for 75+ times, with and without background music. It is a track called "Papa kehte hein". But i still feel it is a lot slower than the actual song and that it doesn't have life in it whatsoever. :) But i would want to work more and make it sound decent enough atleast. Wish to blog it in the near future. For guitar tunes login to one of these sites:

Short term memory loss
Today when i was hearing to radio, which is my usual pass time when commuting to my workplace (about 4-5 hours a day on an average), almost all radio stations invited kids between 5-8years to host the show on the occassion of "children's day". I was fascinated the way they actually hosted the show. They were very much on par with the actual RJs. I happened to remember my childhood days when i used to happily ride a cycle to my school.
It used to be a memorable day on this occassion, for all of us in the school, for, there were loads and loads of activities in which we were to take part. There used to be dance, skits, fashion show, fancy dress, sports, the band group, prize distribution. And there were these magic shows in which the magician turned a flower into a pigeon, made a bunch of roses from nowhere and things of that sort. After the show, the students were given a special "magic book and a pencil" which was really handy for two reasons, the first one being, we never had to mend our pencils and the second being we could erase whatever we wrote without using an eraser :) There also used to be this special programme where teachers used to take part in activities like skits which had themes of patriotism after which the students were asked to take up a "who is who" quiz. And i can bet that learning cannot get any better. And the best part of the celebrations was at the end, when really really yummy sweets and ice creams were distributed. This was the usual tradition in our school.
The most memorable of all the children's day celebrations at our school was when i was in 2nd standard. The reason was, i had hit a hat-trick and had bagged 3 prizes in 3 discrete events held on that occassion. The first event was a "story telling compitition" for which my father had come up with a really creative story, the story that was never heard of before. Well, don't be worried, i wont narrate it here :P . The second event was the musical chair and the third one, the fancy dress, in which my father had dressed me like "Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru ji" with a rose in the pocket and the typical Nehru cap. ( i still have it locked safely in my wardrobe :) ). I also remember the punch quote of Nehru that i had delivered in that event - "The destiny of India is smoking in its classrooms; the children of today are the citizens of tomorrow". May be this is the true reason why it won a prize even though the rules of the compitition was not to be vocal. ;)
And now i gotto hurry up as i have to push my father for a treat on the occassion of his "birthday"(turned 60 ;) ) or rather the "children's day" :)
Well, i had no intention of creating a blog until i came across one of my colleagues' blogs... It was simply awesome which triggered me to create one too. Thanks to him. Will start updating it shortly. :) Here is the link to my colleague's blog.
